Position: Game Developer

POSITION ID: 10DEV03

LOCATION: Robot Entertainment, Inc. office located in Plano, Texas, USA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Robot Entertainment is looking for several experienced, multi-talented game developers to join its staff.  These individuals will have a wide variety of responsibilities and will be expected to participate with our team in the entire life cycle of creating and supporting our computer gaming entertainment products.  This is an excellent opportunity for a developer with game industry experience looking for new challenges.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience as a game programmer using C++ with Microsoft Visual Studio and associated tools;
  • A minimum of two (2) years games industry experience in the above. 

DESIREABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate…

  • Plays and enjoys computer and console games;
  • Has a working knowledge of C#, DirectX SDK, and XACT;
  • Has extensive knowledge of 3D computer graphics, including use of the DirectX SDK, Shader programming language, and optimizing 3D performance in games on both high- and low-end hardware;
  • Has experience with Games for Windows and Game for Windows Live;
  • Has experience with 3rd party game engines such as Vision, Unreal, and Gamebryo;
  • Has experience using a source code control solution;
  • Has worked on Massively Multiplayer Online, Real Time Strategy, or Role-Playing  games;
  • Has participated in developing very large scale client-server gaming applications;
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills;
  • Takes ownership and is a self-starter;
  • Possesses the ability to work as part of a team;
  • Has experience with Linux and open source solutions in addition to the required Microsoft solutions listed above.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

BS/BA/MS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

This is a full-time, professional exempt position.  Open to United States citizens or those individuals who are legally residing and working in the USA.  Robot will not facilitate or sponsor candidates for US work visas or US residency “Green Cards” for this position.

Position: Game Network Developer

POSITION ID: 10DEV02

LOCATION: Robot Entertainment, Inc. office located in Plano, Texas, USA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Robot Entertainment is looking for a passionate, multi-talented game network developer to join its staff. This person will have a wide variety of responsibilities and participate in the entire life cycle of creating and supporting our games, with an emphasis on supporting client-side networking.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming using C++;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client networking in a peer to peer as well as a client/server environment including issues of handling latency, managing sessions, real-world connectivity issues, NAT / Firewall traversal, and providing a solid transport for game data;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client to data center networking including authentication, server discovery, and security issues;
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP protocols, concurrency, multi-threaded code, and synchronization;
  • Proficient at using packet sniffers and analysis tools (e.g. netmon, NetGrove, & Network Emulator for Windows Toolkit) to analyze packet-level communication protocols.

DESIREABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate...

  • Has a passion for playing, creating, and discussing computer, console, & mobile games;
  • Has experience with the Microsoft Live platform including client session management and the XLSP system;
  • Experience with Steam and/or PlayStation Network;
  • Has a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Visual Studio, C#, and DirectX SDK;
  • Has experience with 3rd party game engines such as Vision, Unreal, and Gamebryo;
  • Has written or has experience with chat and other solutions;
  • Has experience using a SQL, integrated development environment, and source code control solutions;
  • Has worked on Massively Multiplayer Online, Real Time Strategy, Role-Playing games, and mobile games;
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills;
  • Takes ownership and is a self-starter;
  • Possesses the ability to work as part of a team;
  • Has experience with Linux, OS X, iPhone SDK, and open source solutions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

BS/BA/MS/Ph.d. degree in Computer Science or related field.
